Join us for a Moomin-style picnic to mark the finale of a fantastic week of city-wide events for Refugee Week, part of the Moomins’ 80th-anniversary celebrations.
In response to Dana Olărescu’s floating installation in the docks: You Look as Though You Might be a Relation, the day will celebrate the vibrant communities of our city and that welcome is key to our city’s identity.
Highlights of the day will include:
Global flavours - free food tasters
Children’s games from around the world
The Music Works Bus: interactive music workshops
Free facepainting and collage
Reading Corner and Story Time
Moomin puppet show, Mischief and Mystery in Moominvalley
Free ice cream, courtesy of Ben & Jerry’s
Bring your family, friends, a picnic, and maybe a small welcoming gift for a stranger, as we celebrate community as our superpower.
Free, no booking required. All are welcome.
King’s Square
The installation and its associated events has been co-commissioned and co-produced by Counterpoints Arts and Gloucester Guildhall, made possible by the support of Moomin Characters Ltd. in celebration of 80 years since the publication of the first Moomin story.

Make a day of it with a storytelling and crafts at the Museum of Gloucester earlier in the day.
