WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE SCULPTURE?
The 2.5m cubic light and sound sculpture invokes emotions and invites the visitor to take some time out of their busy lives, forget about the world and take some time out for themselves, by taking them to a different place through this meditative and thought invoking illumination.
It consists of 25 tubular plastic 'Birch' trunks, with 7,500 individually addressable LED lights. The sculpture has a 30 minute bespoke audio and 3D lighting program. It was a maquette for a 5m3, stainless steel interactive public art space.
WHAT IS ‘LANDMARK’?
The Birch Forest was created as part of ‘Landmark’ a new Sky Arts series featuring artists from across the country creating a sculpture in a competition. The winning artist creates a larger scale installation to be displayed in Coventry later this year.
